Old Women

This photo reminded me of a poem I read in the book, When I am an Old Woman I shall wear Purple.

excerpt from
OLD WOMEN
by
Barbara Lau

***
Now twined around each other
arm in arm down the sidewalk,
defying the dark grave
with their colors and perfume,
old women
tending time more fragile than youth:
poinsettias in the snow.
