{Farm Life} ....... {Art} ...... {Learning} ...... {Motherhood} ......{The Story of Us}

Dear Misty,

I just couldn't help myself, I had to do it! I can' t pass up the chance to flashback to the 80's! There is so much that this meme didn't cover though. Remember Vanilla Ice? MC Hammer?Who could possibly forget Skid Row. Sebastian Bach was the love of my life. I was sure that we would get married and have the most beautiful blond haired babies. I have visions of toddlers with long flowing hair singing their hearts out, LOL! What was the name of the talent show for kids? I was sure Sebastian and my children would be on that show someday. HAhah!

Here are a few things I remember: Popples, Stirrup pants, Monchichi's (funny monkey's), Pop top Pencils, Spirographs, Hyper Color Shirts, Puffalumps (brother got one and I didn't:{ ), Alvin and the Chipmonks, A Team, High top Reebok's, Easy Bake ovens, Ribbon Barrettes, who could forget Water Weenies and "Where's the Beef?". Smurfs, any one? They give me the creeps now that I think back on them. Pappa Smurf and the rest of the gang and only Smurfette to keep them all happy........Whew!
Wow what a trip!

Thanks Misty!!

2. How old were you in 1989? 14

8. When someone says " Who you gonna call? Well, Duh!
9.What was your favorite toy? A little plastic box that had a mirror and a working hair dryer and fake make up. There was a whole slew of toys I was convinced I needed: Pound Puppies, Popples, all things Barbie, My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite and of course Strawberry Shortcake.
10. Did you have a Pogo Ball? No, but next door neighbor did.
11. Did you listen to New Kids on the Block? Yes I did, on my Smurf radio.
12. What New Kid did you have a crush on? I am more of a Marky Mark fan! Mark Walberg, be still my beating heart.

20. Did you have a crazy hair style? I begged my mom for "feathered" hair. I had the perfect Farrah Faucet hair in fourth grade. As the "flying saucer" hair came in I tried and tried to get my limp, fine hair to do the flip but no amount of Aquanet and ratting would make it stay up! I was so sad.
21. What was your first bike? A sparkly purple, banana seat, Harley bike, with the huge sissy bar and a red flag on a pole. I had those horrible pedals with the wicked teeth, from which I still spot scars on my shins.

26. Did you watch Miami Vice? We didn't have T.V. very much when I was a kid. When we did have it I was a total, vidiot. The Walton's, Little House, Punky Brewster, Inspector Gadget, and Lavern and Shirley were my fav's.
27. Did you own a pair of Jelly Shoes? Oh man! I think the only reason I got these while they were still in style was because they were so cheap. I loved the cool dirt pattern they left on my feet. Boy did they make your feet stink!

32. He-Man or She-Ra? Both. My brother and I would pretend we were He-Man and She-Ra. Although I did throw in Wonder Woman every now and then. I had the under-roo's to match, too!
33. What movie scared you the most? I was at the neighbors once watching cable......Oh man! I remember these flying gremlins that swooped down on some topless sunbathers and ate their boobies off......I didn't watch T.V. for a month!! I have no idea what the name of that movie was but it is still burned in my memory.

42. Wally-World or Europe? What???
43. What was your favorite movie from the 80's? Ferris Bulers Day Off and of course anything Molly Ringwald was in.

  1. AQUANET! I decided not to post my 80s memories in that form since I am so TV and music illiterate. Don't I sound intellectually superior when I say it that way?! Anyhow we had no TV and my parents didn't believe in secular radio either. I was socially stunted. Still haven't caught up, I'm sure.

  2. Well I was so stunted that I had to look most of it up on the internet! Ah, I know it's cheating~but since we were a welfare family and we only had TV for about 2 years(in which time I caught up on alot of commercials and programs), I couldn't help it. What an excuse!

  3. oh man...
Great memories... there is SO MUCH about that decade. MC HAMMER and VANILLA ICE is more very early 90's. So weird to me that two back to back decades can be SOOOO different!

i had a barbie and the rockers doll with the tape too...

  4. Ah... this takes me back to a time that I'd rather NOT re-live!
