Flashback

Dear Misty,

I just couldn't help myself, I had to do it! I can' t pass up the chance to flashback to the 80's! There is so much that this meme didn't cover though. Remember Vanilla Ice? MC Hammer?Who could possibly forget Skid Row. Sebastian Bach was the love of my life. I was sure that we would get married and have the most beautiful blond haired babies. I have visions of toddlers with long flowing hair singing their hearts out, LOL! What was the name of the talent show for kids? I was sure Sebastian and my children would be on that show someday. HAhah!

Here are a few things I remember: Popples, Stirrup pants, Monchichi's (funny monkey's), Pop top Pencils, Spirographs, Hyper Color Shirts, Puffalumps (brother got one and I didn't:{ ), Alvin and the Chipmonks, A Team, High top Reebok's, Easy Bake ovens, Ribbon Barrettes, who could forget Water Weenies and "Where's the Beef?". Smurfs, any one? They give me the creeps now that I think back on them. Pappa Smurf and the rest of the gang and only Smurfette to keep them all happy........Whew!
Wow what a trip!

Thanks Misty!!

1.How old were you in 198O? 5
2. How old were you in 1989? 14
3. Were you a Toys R' US Kid? No, too poor! Yard sales and The Youth Ranch were where my toys came from.
4. Did you watch Transformers? I did! On the most ginormous console T.V.
5. Did you see E.T. on the big screen? No, I didn't~we were poor!
6. Did you own a Lite Bright? No, but the neighbor kids did.
7. Who is your Favorite Golden Girl? Sophia... I was sure that was what a Grandma should be!
8. When someone says " Who you gonna call? Well, Duh!
9.What was your favorite toy? A little plastic box that had a mirror and a working hair dryer and fake make up. There was a whole slew of toys I was convinced I needed: Pound Puppies, Popples, all things Barbie, My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite and of course Strawberry Shortcake.
10. Did you have a Pogo Ball? No, but next door neighbor did.
11. Did you listen to New Kids on the Block? Yes I did, on my Smurf radio.
12. What New Kid did you have a crush on? I am more of a Marky Mark fan! Mark Walberg, be still my beating heart.
13. Did you play M.A.S.H? DID I EVER! The kids in my duplex had a whole log fort dedicated to just this.
14. Did you watch The Care Bears? O' I did and I still have the Good Luck Bear that my Aunt Joyce made for me.
15. Did you have Jelly bracelets? YES!!!! All twisted and knotted around my arms and of course looped over the middle finger.

18. Did you ever own a slap bracelet? Oh yeah, got them as a prize for reading tons of books at the library!
19. The Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles? Molly fan all the way! Any thing with Molly Ringwald was a hit with me! She is a huge french actress now, so I hear.
20. Did you have a crazy hair style? I begged my mom for "feathered" hair. I had the perfect Farrah Faucet hair in fourth grade. As the "flying saucer" hair came in I tried and tried to get my limp, fine hair to do the flip but no amount of Aquanet and ratting would make it stay up! I was so sad.
21. What was your first bike? A sparkly purple, banana seat, Harley bike, with the huge sissy bar and a red flag on a pole. I had those horrible pedals with the wicked teeth, from which I still spot scars on my shins.

24. Did you dress like Madonna? I tried but mom would have none of it. I was more of a Cyndi Lauper girl anyway. I wore acid washed, pegged jeans and those enormous button up shirts with tuxedo tails, with the collar turned up.
25. Rainbow Brite or Strawberry Shortcake? I wanted them both! I did get a Rainbow Brite doll from a yard sale but it was WAY after they were IN.
26. Did you watch Miami Vice? We didn't have T.V. very much when I was a kid. When we did have it I was a total, vidiot. The Walton's, Little House, Punky Brewster, Inspector Gadget, and Lavern and Shirley were my fav's.
27. Did you own a pair of Jelly Shoes? Oh man! I think the only reason I got these while they were still in style was because they were so cheap. I loved the cool dirt pattern they left on my feet. Boy did they make your feet stink!

32. He-Man or She-Ra? Both. My brother and I would pretend we were He-Man and She-Ra. Although I did throw in Wonder Woman every now and then. I had the under-roo's to match, too!
33. What movie scared you the most? I was at the neighbors once watching cable......Oh man! I remember these flying gremlins that swooped down on some topless sunbathers and ate their boobies off......I didn't watch T.V. for a month!! I have no idea what the name of that movie was but it is still burned in my memory.

Dear Blank Page,

Don't stare at me so.

Apologies

Dear Just J,

I must eat crow and apologize for my mean comment to you. I only called you "stinky" because I was frustrated, and having blog with-drawls. The computer is up and running, obviously, and I only had to kick it a few times to get it to turn on. You are a good brother for taking on my dinosaur and bringing it into the 21St Century.

I appreciate all you have done for me, ya little stink!

Love Always,

Your Monkey

Computer woe's

Dear Reader,

I must inform you that my much loved computer has been in the shop for days and days now. This brings me much disdain. I am a totally addicted blogger. The computer is my friend. How could it do this to me right in the middle of my big letter a day challenge? I have tried to procure a interim computer ( three in fact) to no avail. How could this happen to a poor isolated farm chick?

It's all my darling husbands fault. I place all blame on him. I am not the one who must have more space for gaming. I am totally happy with the computer just the way it sits. But no! The man must have MORE space. None of his games run as they should. Pa-shaw!! Games shmames! I am the one who needs the computer right now. He gets to play his games on the Xbox when the computer is off at the shop. Did he never consider what this might do to a girl?

I live in a rural area of a very small community. No one knows me here. My closest friend is twelve miles away. My computer is my daily connection to all of my farm chicky friends who live far from me. I am going through serious with-drawls.

Thank heavens the library has Internet!! As I sit in the library writing to you now, my children are busily searching out the perfect book to take home with them. The large gentleman next to me is for some reason breathing heavily......(???) The librarians are so waiting for my kids to start tearing up the books, and I just want my computer back in its rightful place at my desk!!

I have bemoaned my sad situation for long enough. The keys are making clacking noises that are echoing through the library and causing the ladies to look at me with scorn. So I will close and take my leave. I will resort to entertaining myself with a good book and hopefully the time will pass quickly. The repairman (my stinky little brother, who takes delight in torturing me) says the computer won't be ready till the weekend, at the earliest!! I might have to plant the garden or take up retail therapy to keep my sanity. Hey didn't I say that I had "bemoaned" enough?? Alright, I will pull myself together now and go check out a good Chicky book.

Thanks for letting me rant, dear reader.

Computer-less Farm Chick

From Father

To my darling daughter,

I love you.

No matter what happens, I love you. Wherever you are, I love you. No matter what you may get yourself into, I LOVE YOU!

Don't forget. As far as the heavens are from the earth, so is my love for you.

You are and will always be my baby. No matter how you see your self, you will always be my precious baby. There is no greater joy than watching you toddle and learn to walk: each failing step, finding your balance.

I will be right here when ever you need me, just call me. I love the sound of your voice, even if you're whining. Talk to me, it brings me great joy.

Hey did I mention that I love you??

I love you, Princess.

Always,

Daddy

Providence

Dearest Aunt Joyce,

Thank you so much for the phone call last night. It truly was providence! I am sure that mom wouldn't mind that you mis-dialed her number and got mine just right.

It has been so long since I have seen the rest of the family. It was comforting to hear all the home town news; catch up on where everyone has run off to and with whom~haha! I miss the big family dinners, with all the food, fighting and of course fun, fun, fun. It seems so unfamiliar to never run into the family in the grocery store, to not wave to them from the yard. For me the adjustment of leaving "home" has been a hard one.

I apologize for using your nickle to chat for so long. It was so worth it to me! I hope it brought as much joy to your evening as it did mine. Ring me again, on accident anytime!

Much Love,

Your Niece
